Instructors: John Dumont & Rose Blais

Final Project

Design a complete Network System for your school building.

You will need to include the following information:

1. Include a floor plan of your building showing individual class-
Rooms, offices, equipment closets. It will be necessary to draw
it to scale noting accurate building measurements.

2. Overlay on this floor plan the network wiring plan for
the building including designated areas for equipment closets and
the types of cabling to be used (fiber or Category V, 10 Base T).

3. List what equipment will be contained within each infrastructure
equipment closet and why you have chosen it. (hubs, switches, routers,
bridges, RF modems, patch panels etc.)

4. What area of the building have you chosen to install your file server(s)?
Kindly give the manufacturer and model of the server you have chosen to
install. Include server specifications: RAM, hard drive size and type,
processor speed, other components installed on the server(s).
What operating system will you choose to run on this server and
how many client licenses will you need for your building?

5.  Show the floor plan of a typical classroom noting the locations
of the furniture and the number and locations of computer/data
outlets, television or data projectors, video outlets and electrical outlets.

6.  Show the floor plan of a typical computer lab noting the locations
of the furniture and the number and locations of the computer/data
outlets, video outlets, television or data projectors and electrical outlets.

7. Show the floor plan of the Media Center/Library noting the
locations of the furniture, television or data projectors, the number
and locations of computer/data outlets, video outlets and electrical outlets.

8. Provide specifications for building computer workstations and server.
If you will be using computers with different specifications for
certain designated areas, you must specify where they are to be
placed. If you are using a manufacturers specific model, you may
list it, but you must still include the specifications. (i.e. RAM, processor,
video RAM, other components). Please provide a rationale as to why you
selected this particular computer with its specifications.

9. If you are going to include any computer peripherals for classroom
or building use kindly list these items and their specifications. You may
include a manufacturer’s name and model number. Also include a rationale
as to why you selected these particular products. (digital Cameras, scanners,
printers, data projectors etc.).
