Overview of the Technology Planning Process

 

Main Steps in Chicopee School District planning process

 

1.  Establishing District Technology Team.

 

2.  Surveyed school and student personnel for knowledge of computer Technology.

 

3.  Survey schools for equipment and software inventories.

 

4.  Discuss with school personnel and technology committee our future needs in the next five years.

 

5.  Meeting with Technology technical subcommittee to discuss networking and what means we should be using to connect our buildings.  Discussing our WAN, LAN, INET, and fiber optic options for the present and future.

 

6.  Developed and implementation plan for software, equipment and in service training of personnel.

 

7.  Develop a budget to cover our plan.

 

8.  Informed School Committee and Superintendents of our 5-year plan and need for adequate funding.

 

Chicopee School District communicates the technology planning process through monthly meetings with the Technology committee.  The Telecommunications Department along with the Technology Committee collaborated on the development of the plans.
