BACKGROUND

 

Prior Technology Initiatives

 

Basically consisted of contacting key administrators and building personal.  Reviewing the hardware and software contents of buildings utilizing the DOE Technology yearly report with administrators and making recommendations based on age of equipment and ratio of students to computers.

 

 

Overview of Current Technology Research and planning process

 

1.  Conduct Surveys of Equipment and assessing the knowledge of students and professional staff.  Utilizing surveys from the Curriculum office.

2.  Input of Technology Committee and Technical subcommittee (composed of Network Engineers, System Administrators, Cable Television Management, Plant Mangers and CATV Design Engineers).

3.  Discuss research of Technical Sub-Committee with Technology Committee.

4.  Formulate a 5 year Time Line Plan and Budget.

5.  Submit information to Superintendent and School Committee.

 

 

Developing Ongoing Evaluations and Program Improvements.

 

1.  On going input from staff members utilizing the DOE required yearly Technology Report as a basis of data collection.

a.  Software needs

b.  Equipment needs.

2.  Discuss input of staff members at School and District Technology Committee meetings.

3.  Develop a plan to incorporate suggestions.

4.  Develop a Time Line and Budget requirements necessary to carry out the plan.

5.  Share information with Superintendent and School Committee.

6.  Use hardware and software and networking tools to conduct surveys, which should be reviewed periodically to show progress.
