The TSAT has been designed for:
The Massachusetts Department of Education has adopted the Technology Self-Assessment Tool developed by the Boston Public Schools in 1997. Working together with Boston Public Schools and educators across the state, the Department has updated the content and aligning this tool with the Massachusetts Recommended PreK-12 Instructional Technology Standards, the ISTE Technology Standards, and the ETAC STaR Chart. The newest addition from the DOE is the Sample Administrator Technology Self-Assessment Tool.
The Technology Self Assessment Tool is available as a
PDF file
and as an interactive tool on the Department's Virtual Education Space (VES).
The interactive tool makes it possible for administrators to access aggregated
data from their teachers in order to better focus their professional development
efforts.
To use the PDF file
,
simply print the file and then check off the technology tasks that you know how
to do. Put a check only if you are able to do all of the examples given. This
questionnaire should require about 15 minutes of your time. A Progress Chart
containing the same information is included as Appendix A.
To use the interactive tool, log on to VES, click the TSAT icon at the bottom of the screen, and follow the instructions. You will need to have a VES account in order to access the TSAT. To register for a free account on VES, click the Educators button on the VES home page.
In order to access aggregated data from teachers in your district who have taken the TSAT, you need to be authorized by your district's superintendent and assigned the role of TSAT District Administrator by your district's VES administrator. Once you have this authorization, simply log on to VES, click the Admin icon at the bottom of the screen, and follow the instructions.
