Goals we have accomplished (from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005) as reported on our October 2005 DOE Technology reporting

During the 2004/2005 School year the district opened the new Chicopee High School. In that school alone there were 607 new computers installed. Included in those numbers are fourteen wireless lap top carts. Current technologies were installed at the new school including HP Servers, HP Switches supporting the new building infrastructure, Smart boards, DVD/VCR players, DVD recorders, digital cameras, video presentation systems, televisions, LCD projectors, video conferencing equipment, multiple computer labs and a TV Production studio.

In the school district desk top computer systems were installed, 518 desktops and 55 lap top systems. Three hundred units were replacements for aging equipment which is part of our six year computer replacement program. Sixty computers systems were purchased with NCLB funds to infuse technology into the classrooms. Many of the Elementary Schools also received a Smart board with LCD/DLP projectors to support the instructional process in the teaching of ELA and Math.

All of these efforts helped us move forward to our goal of a 4:1 computer ratio in our district. Smart boards were installed in many locations in the district to facilitate Math instruction in the Elementary and Middle Schools. Our two year project of upgrading the entire wide area network connectivity to all schools including the installation of Fiber Switches and GBICS moved forward with the connection of the following buildings to the fiber network: The Telecom Center, Chicopee High School, Comprehensive High School, Bellamy Middle School, Fairview Middle School, Barry School, Bowe School, Bowie School, Lambert-Lavoie School, Selser School, Stefanik School, Szetela Early Childhood. With the assistance of E-RATE funds two new Windows 2003 File servers and Fiber switches were purchased for Bowe School and Stefanik School.

The Professional Development Facility at the Telecom Center has been successfully utilized for teacher and staff training.
