Goals we have accomplished (from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004) as reported on our October 2004 DOE Technology reporting

During the 2003/2004 School year the district purchased and installed over 249 new computers systems.  While144 units were replacements for aging equipment which is part of our six year computer replacement program, 105 computer systems are new initiatives such as Read 180, SRI, Houghton Mifflin math “Ways to Access” program and Reading First which facilitate NCLB reporting.  Several wireless laptop carts were installed at Chicopee Comprehensive High School.  All of these installs have allowed us to move toward our goal of 5:1 student to computer ratio established by the D.O.E.

In keeping with our program to implant new technology initiatives the district installed six Smart Boards with LCD projectors to reinforce the use of technology for instruction in the areas of Math, ELA, and professional development.

Three elementary schools received new file servers to replace againg Windows NT Servers.  With these Windows 2003 servers there is sufficient hard drive space to save student generated data from instructional programs.  Another important advantage is the ability for the Telecommunication’s Department to manage the servers remotely from our Telecommunication’s Center.
