Goals we have accomplished (from July 1, 2006 to June 30,
2007) as reported on our October 2007 DOE Technology reporting
Goals we have accomplished in the 2006-2007 school year are as follows. We finished connecting the last two schools Litwin and Belcher to the Chicopee Electric Light fiber Wide Area Network. The installation of Striving Reader Grant servers has been successfully implemented. We continue to support Read 180, SRI, Scholastic Red and Reading First, and the CHS technology integration project. The web page server replacement has been installed and a new easier management structure put in place. We have made progress in remotely managing our network switches and servers. All servers are now accessible with the purchase of HP Procurve manager. The planning for technology for the new Comprehensive High School has continued with the FF&E committee of the building commission. Specifications have been created and gone out for bid and are on schedule. We have continued to provide Professional Development activities at the Telecom Dept. facility. We have met with MEC, Verizon and Charter regarding the moving of the Telecom infrastructure scheduled for the 2008 spring and fall. Many new technologies have been projected for the new facility. Some of the technologies are 10GIG backbone, new HP wireless technology POW (power over Ethernet), LCD TV displays connected to teacher workstations for the display of DVD's and computer applications. Equipment has also been specified for three types of computer workstations types: General, Graphics and Teacher (that will run the LCD TV's.) Smart boards and lap top carts have also been specified. The CHS DOE grant was utilized for Professional Development for technology usage in that new facility as specified in that grant application. We are every year getting closer to our 3:1 District computer ratio.
