Many of you might be interested in using a free web-based email service.  This is convenient if you are checking your mail from school or if a family member already has a dial-in number (or cable modem) but you want your own email account. 

For a list of free web-based email providers, go to http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_web.htm.  I have used mail.yahoo.com very happily for a while now and others use hotmail.com, whale-mail.com (make an environmental difference), excite.com, or gurlmail.com (great for teenage girls).  Yahoo is nice because it allows you to check other POP mail accounts remotely.
