The iParent offering provides a collection of views designed to give you quick on-line access to your child’s current status. These views are accessed from a left menu and give you links to the following information:

Please note that your school may choose to restrict access to  one or more of the folders listed above. Please call your school if you have questions.

The following sections describe each of the iParent screens.

When you log in, you see a screen with two sections, a menu on the left and a data page at the center and right.

Use the links in the menu to display information about your child in the data page.

Left Menu

When you log in, the following menu is displayed. It lists the different categories of information available for viewing.

Tree Menu

The static tree is the default appearance. Your name will show at the top of the tree.

Click on the  to expand the parts of the tree. When all are expanded, you see:

Each of the items in the tree is a link to the information described. When clicked, the corresponding information will appear in the right page. The following sections describe each category in greater detail.

Log Out is Important

At the bottom of the menu is a link called “Log Out”. It is important for you to click this link when you are done viewing your child’s information.

Logging out clears the browser screen, and breaks your connection to the school. If you leave the connection open, someone else might gain access to your personal

information. This is especially important if you use someone else’s computer, or a computer at a library or in a public place.

REMEMBER TO LOG OUT EVERY TIME!

Student Heading and Selection

When a view opens in the right page, a Student Heading may display at the top of the page:

Note that if your school has photographs on-line, a picture of your child will appear in the heading at the left.

If you have several children in the district, then the student name will appear in a pull-down list:

Use the pull-down list to switch between your children. Select the child’s name in the list, and the current page will change to show that child’s data.

View Biographical

This page lists the biographical information on record for your child. This includes Addresses, Phone Numbers and guardian information. If your child rides the bus, your school may also display the bus route at the bottom.

View Schedule

This page displays the class schedule for your child, if relevant.

For example, for a high school student:

The schedule for the current year should display. If your school permits it, you can select previous years, or when schedules are completed, the next year.

NOTE – schools have different policies for which schedules may be viewed. If you select a year, and see one of the following messages, your school has restricted access:

NOTE – Your school defines the text of the message displayed when schedules are not published. The message above is an example only.

View Assignments

This page displays a list of assignments for your child’s classes.

You can choose which assignments to list, “Show All”, or those due in “7 days”, “14 days” or “21 days”. Click on the radio button next your choice, and the page will change to reflect your choice.

The assignments are listed by the date they are Due. If the assignment has been graded, then shows in the Graded column. Use <View Progress Report> to view the score.

Check with your s teacher or administration to find out if your does.

NOTE – scores are displayed for those teachers who use iPass tools. An empty progress report does NOT mean that there are no scores or grades.

View Grades

This page displays your child’s grades.

The grades for the current year should display. If your school permits it, you can select previous years, or when grades are recorded, the current year.

NOTE – Your school defines the text of the message displayed when grades are not available. The message above is an example only.

If Comments were entered for the course, you see the Comments link in the last column of the Grades box. Click on the link to view the comments. A new window will open showing all of the comments for the course, most recent term listed first:

This page displays your child’s attendance history.

If your school takes attendance in class (called period attendance), then it also shows your child’s attendance to class.

Here’s an example including Period attendance:

View Test Scores

This page displays the test scores on record for your child.

In this example, the child has taken three tests, the SAT, the Iowa and the MCAS test. The date the test was taken, and the child’s grade level at that time are displayed, along with the scores.

View Discipline

This page displays the discipline history for your child, if any.

Please note that not all schools keep discipline records in iPass, and not all make the history available to Parents. Check with your school about their discipline policy.

If your child has not discipline history, the following is displayed:

Congratulations!

If your child has been involved in an incident, the following is displayed:

The first box lists each discipline incident and the date and day of the week it occurred. Under most circumstances, a consequence is assigned, i.e. a detention or demerits. This box shows the consequence and unit, and whether the consequence has been fulfilled.

If there are outstanding consequences, then the second box appears, listing the consequences which the student will be required to address or attend to.
