Teach- these are lessons that meet your grade level standards. It is mandatory that you teach these lessons. Mastery is the goal.
Review- these are lessons that have been taught in previous grades. A quick review may be necessary, and it is recommended that these lessons become your warm up activities (spiral component).
Enrichment- these are lessons that meet standards one grade level above what you are teaching. These lessons help to differentiate your instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners. It is not expected that you teach these concepts as part of your core curriculum.
Skip- these are lessons that address standards that are more than one grade level above or below the grade you are teaching. You are not expected to teach these lessons.
Problem Solving- these are skills lessons that do not meet one specific standard. It is important that students build a repertoire of strategies in order to be good problem solvers.
Strategies should include: draw a picture, find a pattern, trial and error, make a list, make a table or graph, solve a simpler problem, experiment, act out the problem, work backwards, use deduction, and write an equation.
